Mardi Gras is music, parades, picnics, floats, excitement, and one big holiday in New Orleans! Everyone is wearing purple, green, and gold; and adorned with long beads caught from the beautiful floats. Mardi Gras 2012 kicks off in the French Quarter on February 4th through February 21st.

Blue Man Group is best known for their wildly popular theatrical shows and concerts which combine comedy, music, and technology to produce a totally unique form of entertainment. Although it is impossible to describe, people of all ages agree that Blue Man Group is an intensely exciting and wildly outrageous show that leaves the entire audience in a blissful, euphoric state. Experience the phenomenon at the Mahalia Jackson Theater January 31-February 5, 2012.

The Hotel Monteleone is seeing in 2012 with a brand new Carousel Bar hosting some wonderful New Orleans performers most evenings at 9:00 p.m. The Carousel Bar’s February lineup includes the Luther Kent Quartet on Wednesdays, Eudora Evans & Band on Thursdays, and Lena Prima each Friday and Saturday evening.

Premiering on Broadway in late 2006, SPRING AWAKENING garnered a plethora of critical acclaim and became the recipient of multiple 2007 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, as well as winning a Grammy for Best Musical Show Album. Based on a provocative late 19th Century play of the same name, this musical adaptation by Stephen Sater and Duncan Shiek will be appearing at the Southern Rep January 13-29 with a rock and roll score that brings the story right into today’s high school halls.
